Because of the 2 star rating that the hotel would be awful, but it was clean, modern and the staff friendly. It was a pleasant surprise. The pillows were a little soft but, other than that, a great stay.

We had a great stay! Our trip got off to a very rocky start in LA, but Ari (the front desk representative) turned it around. She was so kind and helpful. She had amazing customer service skills. The hotel was clean, in great condition, comfortable, great location, great breakfast and best of all the hot tub was so nice to relax in after a long day. Would definitely recommend this hotel. 5 stars!

The hotel is really nice. Front desk staff were friendly. Stayed last week in a room on first floor facing the back of the hotel closest to Jaye Street. Unfortunately, the road noise was awful. There is a distribution center nearby with trucks going by all night long. Add to that a roundabout with a lot of slow down and speed up traffic on Jaye Street. I’m thinking that a room on the parking lot side of the building (front side…no parking in the back of the hotel) or an upper room would minimize the noise.

I don’t often write reviews for hotels, but Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Porterville truly deserves recognition. From the moment we pulled into the lot, there was a sense that our stay was going to be smooth, comfortable, and genuinely refreshing — and it didn’t disappoint. First off, check-in was efficient and friendly. The front desk team greeted us with a warm welcome, took time to answer our questions, and made the whole process effortless. That immediate sense of hospitality set the tone for the rest of our stay. Our room was exactly what we needed — clean, bright, and thoughtfully laid out. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the linens felt fresh and high-quality. Small details like plenty of charging outlets, soft lighting, and a well-stocked coffee station made the space feel welcoming and functional. It wasn’t just a place to sleep — it was genuinely restful. One of the highlights was the breakfast area. Morning service was well organized, and the spread had great variety: fresh fruit, hot options, and those little touches that made the meal feel satisfying instead of rushed. It was nice to start each day with a hearty breakfast before heading out. What really stood out was how consistent everything was — from housekeeping that kept our room tidy to staff who always smiled and made you feel appreciated. There was a calm, relaxed vibe throughout the hotel, yet you could tell the team was always attentive and ready to help. Whether you’re traveling through the area for work, visiting family, or just exploring Porterville, this Holiday Inn Express & Suites offers a level of comfort and service that makes the stay special. I walked away impressed and genuinely grateful for a great experience — five stars well earned.

The contentel breakfast was good. The price and location was perfect. We were 10 minutes away from the event.

Comfortable Stay with Great Staff, but Some Amenities Need Improvement. I recently completed a six-week stay at Porterville Holiday Inn Express, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with a few areas for improvement. The staff was attentive and professional, with management striking a great balance of friendliness and efficiency. The housekeeping team was particularly noteworthy—always polite, friendly, and diligent in keeping the rooms spotlessly clean. As a relatively new property, the hotel is well-maintained, and the upkeep reflects an admirable commitment to quality. The rooms themselves were a highlight. Spacious enough for a long-term stay, they featured comfortable mattresses and pillows, which are critical for me during extended hotel stays—pillows can truly make or break the experience, and these were pretty good. While I didn’t often take advantage of the breakfast due to my schedule, the times I did, I found it to be quite good for the size of the property and the setting. The selection was satisfying and well-suited to the environment. However, a couple of issues detracted from an otherwise great stay. The laundry facilities were a frequent source of frustration, with washers and dryers breaking down too often. When only one machine was operational, it was challenging to find an available time to do laundry, which is a significant inconvenience for long-term guests. Additionally, the Jacuzzi hot tub was a disappointment. It was out of service regularly, and even when operational, it felt more like a lukewarm bath with minimal water movement rather than a true jetted hot tub. I urge the hotel to repair and maintain this feature rather than removing it, as many hotels do—a properly functioning hot tub is disproportionately important to me. Compared to my current long-term stay at another hotel, I’d gladly return to this property for its cleanliness, comfort, and exceptional staff. With some attention to the laundry and hot tub issues, this property could easily be the best in town.

Friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms. Been traveling with my wife and two kids - was pretty good for the buck. The only exception is unforgettably bad breakfast experience. Just a few food options, bad tasting, plastic cutlery and paper plates, dirty tables. Really weird since I’ve been to a few hundred hotels over the last few years including holiday inns and this one stands out in a bad way. May be the european part if the network is significantly better but the only difference was in the breakfast experience.

Clean, spacious, comfortable rooms. Front desk is friendly, helpful and engaging. Breakfast is extensive. The only thing I works change is that the hotel is on the wrong side of a divided road, so you have to navigate a roundabout to get there. Still an excellent experience overall.
